Situated on the edge of the Deschutes National Forest in Bend, Oregon, this craftsman-inspired home offers sweeping views of Mt. Bachelor and the Deschutes National Forest. Inspired by structures built during the Works Progress Administration (WPA), the low-slope roofs are supported by exterior porches constructed with large Douglas fir resawn timbers and handcrafted joinery. The garage angles away from the main house, opening up views to the mountains and undeveloped areas to the south, while also providing shelter for the entry of the home from strong winter winds. The color palette was inspired by natural occurring elements like the indigenous pumice rock and natural Douglas fir and cedar timbers.

The floor plan is oriented to take advantage of both the prime southern orientation and the Mt. Bachelor views. The public spaces are oriented along an east-west axis, creating sweeping views to the south, east, and west.

The interior features a balance of cherry cabinetry, painted woodwork, and natural window sashes and door panels.
