Designed to work on a narrow and undeveloped corner lot in East Sacramento, this project was created to maximize outdoor living spaces wherever possible and enhance daylight within the house.
The elongated plan enters from the center of the house, adjacent to the interior stairs, reducing interior circulation. The kitchen and dining area open to the living room with a vaulted ceiling and direct visual access to the exterior courtyard.
The use of vertical cedar siding and horizontal lap siding helps break the elongated plan into logical individual massing elements, reducing the horizontality of the building mass. The natural color palette and screening from existing foliage seamlessly integrate the project into the urban landscape.
